Come to find out, Mother nature really does have a sense of humor! After losing the entire 2017 vintage of Syrah to the Napa fires…she gives us this stunning 2018 vintage-quite simply put…the VGS Syrah 2018 is one for the ages.

Bald Mountain….is unique because…..nothing grows except our Syrah, steep slopes at 2000 feet, long hours of sunlight and…dry farmed!

You know, the second you pour yourself a glass of this wine you are about to embark om a deep, multi-layered experience.  The darkness of the color, the intensity and depth of the bouquet, the weight on your palate….. yes this wine is fully extracted (remember it is dry farmed!)

Aromatically, this wine explodes from the glass. Earthy and spice driven aromas of cloves, allspice and cardamom rise from the glass, with mature fruit aromas of black figs, violets, sage and olive tapenade. The distinct array of aromas makes for such a complex and layered wine.

On the palate, it is loaded with dark fruit dominated by blackberries and Amarena cherries with mocha, vanilla and black pepper. This is a very multi-dimensional and deep wine. The attack in the mouth is rich, full and dense…you feel the dark fruit intensity and the wine’s texture. The finish is really compelling as there is a very present note of candied violets that comes to “lighten” the whole bouquet.
