2016 VGS Cabernet Sauvignon
Wow, wow, wow…!
The 2016 vintage in the Napa Valley will go down in wine history as LEGENDARY…and here’s a perfect example why.
A deep brick red color immediately shines from the glass with a great depth and density.
A concentrated and intense yet restrained subtle nose leads with a hint of fresh and pleasant violets. Next to arrive the fruit; bright red cherries and ripe blackberries with a light touch of cranberry. From there, the bouquet evolves towards attractive spices and savory aromas of: Chinese five spice, fresh sage, dark chocolate covered caramels, roasted coffee beans, freshly cracked black pepper, licorice and chocolate spearmint leaves. Absolutely enticing!
The mouthful is full-bodied with medium tannins. The lively and vibrant acidity frames the wine and prevents it from being too massive. The tannins are melted to the point of making it a drinkable wine early however, this wine will evolve and gain tremendously from aging. It’s a keeper! The complexity will develop within the first five years and remain for many years to come. The balance of acidity and tannins in this wine provide an ample mouthfeel with layers upon layers of flavors which will continue to develop for the next 15-20 years.
